SPP vows harsh punishment for illegal vaccine sale

The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) vowed to crack down on crimes related to the high profile vaccine scandal on Friday by actively cooperating with the drug safety watchdog and public security agencies.

A large quantity of improperly stored or expired vaccines were allegedly sold in more than 20 provincial-level regions since 2011.

On Friday, top procurator Cao Jianming urged procuratorial organs in the involved regions to view cases with a wide impact seriously and cooperate with other departments.

All criminal offenses and job-related crimes concerning the scandal must be subjected to severe punishment in accordance with the law, said Cao.

More than 130 people have been apprehended after they were implicated in the scandal and 69 criminal cases have been filed nationwide, the Ministry of Public Security said Thursday at a multi-agency press conference. Endi
