Tokyo shares end higher by break on falling yen

Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher on Friday as the yen's retreat triggered buying of export-related issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 79.50 points, or 0.47 percent, from Thursday to 16,971.83.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.57 points, or 0.56 percent, at 1,362.18. Endit
