Afghan forces kill 13 Taliban militants in Ghazni province

A total of 13 Taliban militants have been killed as clashes erupted in Gilan district of the eastern Ghazni province on Wednesday, provincial police spokesman Fahim Amiri said.

"A group of armed Taliban fighters raided security checkpoints in Azad area of Gilan district early Wednesday, triggering a gun battle which has left 13 insurgents dead and injured six others," Amiri told Xinhua.

A Taliban group commander Mullah Ghulam Rasoul alias Hazla was also among those killed in fighting, the official asserted.

One police constable has been injured in the firefight which is sporadically continuing, the official added.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Ghazni province have yet to make any comments. Enditem
