Cambodian, Russian ministers to meet next week over bilateral cooperation

Xinhua, March 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong will meet with visiting Russian Minister of Telecom and Mass Communication Nikolay Nikiforov next week to discuss ways to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation, the foreign ministry said in statement on Wednesday.

The two ministers are due to co-chair the 9th session of the Cambodian-Russian intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation on March 29, said the statement, adding that the protocol of the session will be signed at the end of the meeting.

During his stay in Cambodia, Nikiforov is also scheduled to visit the kingdom's famed Angkor archeological park in northwestern Siem Reap province, it said.

Cambodia and Russia have been strengthening their ties and cooperation through the exchange of high-level visits. In November last year, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev paid the first visit to Cambodia, where he held talks with Prime Minister Hun Sen and witnessed a signing ceremony of 10 bilateral agreements.
