One person died and 12 people were injured after a "serious road crash" between a bus and a 4x4 vehicle in North Ayrshire on Scotland's west coast Monday afternoon, local police said.

Police responded to reports of a serious road crash between the bus and the 4x4 vehicle on A78 road, near to Rowan Tree Restaurant, at around 2:15 p.m. local time on Monday.

"Twelve people injured as a result of A78 crash. One person pronounced dead at scene. Please follow road diversions," North Ayrshire Police announced on its twitter account.

A78 road remains closed while police and emergency services responded to the road crash near Ardrossan, police added. Endit
