Thousands of South Sudanese refugees, mainly children, have fled to Uganda following intense fighting back home, the UN refugee agency has said.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in a statement on Sunday said during the last two weeks, 2,840 people from South Sudan sought safety and protection in Uganda.(South Sudan-Uganda)

BELGRADE -- An unknown man carried out a suicide bombing in a bakery in downtown Belgrade on Monday, the Serbian Interior Ministry said in a press release. No one except the bomber was injured.

Serbian RTS public broadcaster reported that the man entered the shop, took out the bomb, threw all the people out of the shop and then activated the explosive device.(Serbia-Explosion)

ANKARA -- Four soldiers of the Turkish security forces and one Turkish policeman were killed on Monday in attacks by the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) militants in southeastern Turkey, local NTV news broadcaster reported.

The Turkish security forces engaged in an armed clash with PKK militants as a part of a military operation in the Nusaybin town of Mardin province on Monday, said the report, adding that four Turkish soldiers were killed during the operation.(Turkey-Attack)

LAGOS -- At least 27 Boko Haram terrorists were confirmed dead in separate raids over the weekend by the military in Nigeria's northeastern Borno State, a military official said Monday.

Spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, who disclosed this in a statement reaching Xinhua in Lagos, said 19 Boko Haram terrorists were killed at Dalore camp in Borno on Sunday.(Nigeria-Boko Haram)

NEW DELHI -- At least five persons have died after their boat capsized in a lake in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, a senior police official said Monday.

"The incident happened late Sunday night when some 10 men, all in their early 20s, were partying on a boat in Lower Lake in state capital Bhopal. While five managed to swim to safety, five others died after they got drowned," he said on condition of anonymity.(India-Mishap-Boat) Endi
