2 Indians among those killed in Russia's plane crash

Xinhua, March 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

India said on Saturday that two of its nationals were among those killed in a air crash at Rostov-on-Don airport in southern Russia.

"The names of the Indians in the list put out by Russian authorities are, Anju Kathirvel Aiyappan and Mohan Shyam," Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup told the media.

"Our mission is checking with the local university and Indian nationals for confirmation," the spokesperson added.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by FlyDubai, coming from Dubai, missed the runway as it attempted to land at Rostov-on-Don airport and crashed, killing all 62 on board.

FlyDubai said 44 Russians, eight Ukrainians, two Indians and an Uzbek were killed. However, it is not clear what caused the crash, though poor visibility and high winds are being suspected. Enditem
