Republic of Congo opposition candidate promises construction 2,500 km of rail if elected

The presidential candidate of the Initiative for Democracy in Congo (IDC) Guy Brice Parfait Kolelas announced Thursday in Brazzaville the construction of 2,500 kilometers of rail if he is elected.

Speaking during a campaign meeting, Kolelas equally promised to create youth training centers and give a monthly stipend to unemployed graduate youths.

The IDC candidate also said he will depoliticize the security forces and make them more professional.

On the political front, the presidential candidate said his first assignment will be changing the Oct. 25, 2015 Constitution, followed by organization of a national forum to discuss reforms of state institutions. He insisted that the Constitution was imposed on the Congolese people.

With regards to devolution, Kolelas who previously served as a minister promised to divide the country in four provinces, each led by a governor. He promised to give each province 400 billion CFA Francs (about 700 million U.S. dollars) each year. Endit
