Man in India kills wife, 3 children by setting them ablaze

A man killed his wife and three children by burning them alive in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh, state-run broadcaster - All India Radio (AIR) said Friday.

The man set ablaze his family on Thursday night while they were asleep inside their house in Kaushambi district, about 187 km south of Lucknow city, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

The broadcaster quoting senior police official V K Mishra as saying the man had quarrelled with his wife over some domestic issue.

"Later when his wife and three children were sleeping, he allegedly poured kerosene oil on them and burnt them alive," the broadcaster quoting Mishra as having said.

The woman and her three children reportedly died due to severe burn injuries.

Police officials said the man has surrendered before the local police. Endit
