Spanish treasury places 2.858 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 2.858 billion euros (3.235 billion U.S. dollars) on the market, registering a demand of 6.368 billion euros.

A total of 1.160 billion euros worth of three-year bonds fetched an average interest rate of 0.111 percent. The placement also included 1.027 billion euros worth of 10-year bonds that carried an average interest rate of 1.484 percent.

The treasury placed 671 million euros of bonds maturing in 2032 that fetched an average interest rate of 2.059 percent.

Meanwhile, Thursday also saw the Bank of Spain report that Spain's public debt fell to 1.069 trillion euros in January, which meant a fall of 589 million euros since the end of 2015. Endit
