Tokyo shares end higher by break on Fed's policy decision

Tokyo shares ended the morning session higher on Thursday as sentiment here was lifted by the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision to maintain its current interest rate and likely not to hike the rate in near future.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 235.12 points, or 1.39 percent, higher from Wednesday to 17,209.57.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 17.16 points, or 1.26 percent, to 1,377.66. Enditem
