1st LD: Scores injured in Tehran's Grand Bazaar blast, casualties feared: report

In an explosion in Tehran's Grand Bazaar on Wednesday, 39 people were injured, some of whom are in critical condition, a report by semi-official ISNA news agency said.

Out of the total injured people, 32 were hospitalized and seven people were given brief treatment, Hossein Abbasi the spokesman for Tehran Emergency Center told ISNA, adding that "unfortunately, some of the injured are in the critical condition."

Also, Jalal Maleki, spokesman for Firefighting Organization told ISNA that "the cause of the incident is not clear, but most likely the carelessness while working with the gas has led to the incident."

The explosion happened in a three-storey jewelery workshop in the afternoon, which was followed by the eruption of fire in a shopping mall, Maleki also told official IRNA news agency. Endit
