Colombia's Atletico Nacional became the first team to qualify for the Copa Libertadores knockout phase on Tuesday with a 4-0 victory over Uruguay's Penarol.

The result at Penarol's Estadio Centenario in Montevideo lifted Atletico to 12 points from their first four matches.

The Medellín-based outfit, whose only Copa Libertadores title came in 1989, are eight points clear at the top of Group 4, with second-placed Sporting Cristal having a game in hand.

In other matches on Tuesday, Independiente del Valle overcame Melgar 2-0, Independiente Santa Fe beat Cobresal 3-0 and Gremio drew 1-1 at San Lorenzo.
