Iran condemns terrorist attack in Turkey as "inhuman"

Xinhua, March 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

In a message to Turkish premier on Tuesday, Iran's First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Turkey as "heinous and inhuman," Press TV reported.

"Iran and Turkey are both victims of terrorism and the two countries understand the necessity of fighting this ominous and inhuman phenomenon," Jahangiri said, adding that Tehran will stand by Ankara in the fight against terrorism.

Bilateral cooperation would be instrumental in uprooting terrorism, he said in a telephone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Tuesday.

Terror attacks across the world show terrorism is expanding and threatening the global peace and security, which requires "foresight and collective international action," Jahangiri added.

Davutoglu hailed Iran's support for his country in its fight against terrorism.

On Monday, Iran's Foreign Ministry offered condolence and also condemned the recent attack that killed dozens in Turkey's capital Ankara.

The attack took place on Sunday in Kizilay district in the heart of Ankara, killing at least 37 people and injuring over 100 others.

A bomb-loaded car exploded near a bus stop where many people were waiting. A number of vehicles, including a bus carrying passengers, were set on fire near Guven Park, a major transportation hub. Endit
