6 WWII bombs unearthed in Liverpool

Part of the business quarter of Liverpool was evacuated Tuesday after the discovery of four unexploded WWII bombs on a building site.
It follows the area being cleared yesterday when two unexploded bombs were discovered in the same area of the city's Pall Mall.
Police have thrown a cordon around a 200-meter zone, evacuating office workers until army bomb disposal experts move the bombs and declare the area safe.
Traffic diversions have also been set up to prevent vehicles entering the bomb-zone.
Liverpool was the most bombed provincial city in Britain during WWII as German war planes attacked the city's dockland area to try to halt supplies being shipped in. A total of 3,900 civilians in the Liverpool area died in the 1941 Blitz.
Army experts will be examining the devices to determine the origins of the six bombs discovered in the last 24 hours.
Police in Liverpool said: "We can confirm officers remain at a site on Pall Mall in Liverpool today. Police are in attendance following the discovery of three further suspected unexploded WWII bombs."
"As a safety precaution a 200m cordon has been put back in place on Pall Mall and neighbouring business premises have been evacuated. These three devices are further to two found yesterday (Monday, 14 March) and one earlier this morning at this site," the police said. Endit
