China's Wang Hao crowned at international chess championship in Vietnam

Chinese grandmaster Wang Hao on Sunday bagged home the trophy at HDBank Cup International Open Chess Championship 2016 in Vietnam's HCM City.

During the Championship from March 8-13, the Chinese grandmaster with Elo 2,707 secured 7 wins and two draws, topping the tournament's men category very convincingly. Vietnamese grandmaster Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son with Elo 2,649 ranked the fifth.

Grabbing 5 points after 9 games, Vietnamese player Pham Le Thao Nguyen finished first at the championship's women category.

A total of 180 players with the average Elo of 2,344 from 16 countries and regions, including China, Hungary, Russia, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Indonesia, Singapore and Myanmar attended the tournament. Endit
