The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) said on Saturday that highly concentrated votes are cast for the nominees of the country's top leadership, including president, prime minister and National Assembly chairperson.
The second plenary session of the 12th CPVCC closed Saturday in Vietnam's capital Hanoi. During the meeting, the Politburo of the 12th CPVCC also asked for the CPVCC's opinions before nominating candidates for other positions, which will be later considered by the National Assembly (NA), according to an official online newspaper of the CPV.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, General Secretary of the 12th CPVCC Nguyen Phu Trong said that after fulfilling the work of top personnel arrangement at the upcoming 11th session of the 13th National Assembly, the party will continue to complete personnel work at CPVCC's agencies where there are changes of personnel.
Earlier this week, in his opening remarks at the 46th session of the NA Standing Committee on Monday, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said, "a number of positions will be adjusted" at the 11th meeting of the 13th NA to be held in March, and the adjustment is "to ensure the state's smooth operation after the Party Central Committee made personnel decisions following the 12th National Party Congress."
The 12th National Congress of the CPV and the first plenary of the CPVCC during Jan. 21 to Jan. 28 re-elected Nguyen Phu Trong as the General Secretary of the 12th CPVCC.
During the congress, many Vietnamese officials and media said the 12th CPVCC's Politburo members, including Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Vice Chairwoman of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, have been nominated to run for the positions of the president, chairwoman of National Assembly and prime minister, respectively.
