Burkina Faso, Togo agree to jointly fight terrorism

Xinhua, March 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Security chiefs from Burkina Faso and Togo Friday held a meeting in Ougadougou, capital city of Burkina Faso, where the two sides agreed to jointly fight terrorism in the region, a local security source said.

In order to fight terrorism and organized crimes, the two countries discussed coordinated actions on "border control and monitoring" during the meeting.

The two West African countries also discussed issues related to free movement of people and goods across their borders.

Since the 2014 coup that ousted then President Blaise Compaore, Burkina Faso has seen a wave of terror attacks.

The two sides also reached consensus on restarting the tripartite consultation framework including Burkina Faso, Ghana and Togo on extradition, the source said. Endi
