2 policemen wounded in PKK bomb attack in SE Turkey

Xinhua, March 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two Turkish policemen were wounded in a bomb attack by the rebels of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey on Friday, private Dogan news agency reported.

The hand-made bomb exploded when a police armored vehicle was passing in Nusaybin town of Mardin province bordering neighboring Syria, leaving the two policemen wounded, according to the report.

The wounded policemen were taken to Nusaybin State Hospital for medical treatment, said the report.

Turkish security forces have staged a large-scale military operation to capture the PKK militants who escaped from the bombing attack, added the report.

The PKK negotiated a cease-fire with the government in 2013, but the truce fell apart in the wake of a suicide bomb attack in the border town of Suruc in Sanliurfa Province last July.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. Endit
