RIO DE JANEIRO, March 9 (Xinhua) - Former Brazil international forward Adriano has arrived in the United States to sign with Miami United.

The new season begins in May and, speaking to Globo Esporte, the 34-year-old striker said his aim is to regain match fitness and return to the pitch.

Adriano was welcomed by the club president and a group of directors upon arrival. Soon, he should be joined by his mother, grandmother, and 16-year-old brother Thiago, who wishes to pursue a football career in the States.

The former Inter Milan player should be officially presented as a Miami United player on Thursday.

Besides playing for his new club, which was only founded in 2012, Adriano is also a partner, earning a part of profits from ticket sales, player transfers and shirt sales.

Adriano has been out of football for almost two years since leaving Atletico Paranaense in 2014. Endit
