Golf test event takes place in Barra

Golf returns to the Olympics after a 112-year absence this August.
The delivery of The Olympic course has experienced several delays due to land disputes and environmental issues but was finally handed over shortly before Christmas.
The 7,133-yard course designed by Gil Hanse looked in good condition as the all Brazilian line up assembled by the first tee.
The PGA Tour were unable to persuade any of the worlds top players to compete. Alexandre Rocha was the top ranked player at 588th in the world.
With a relatively small crowd one was able to walk the fairly narrow fairways virtually alone.
The course looks like it will favour those able to hit the ball long and straight.
The course is situated in an area close to the dunes and alive with the sound of birds and other wildlife.
Whilst the course in my opinion still requires some finishing touches it will no doubt prove popular post games in the local area whilst providing a magnet for business tourism in Barra. Endit
