Tokyo shares end sharply lower on stronger yen

Tokyo shares ended the morning session sharply lower on Tuesday as export-related issues were dragged down by the appreciation of the Japanese yen.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plunged 276.06 points, or 1.63 percent, from Monday to 16,635.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 25.76 points, or 1.89 percent, to 1,336.14. Endite
