Atletico Paranaense hire Paulo Autuori as coach

Xinhua, March 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Atletico Paranaense have announced the hiring of Paulo Autuori as their new coach following the sacking of Cristovao Borges.

Autuori, 59, has been without a club since leaving Japanese side Cerezo Osaka.

This Wednesday (9 March), Atletico take on Cruzeiro at the Mineirao, needing just a point to qualify for the next phase of the Liga Sul-Minas-Rio. Autuori will watch from the stands.

His first official match in charge will be on Saturday, against PSTC, in the state championship.

Autuori has won two Copa Libertaodres in his career, in 1997 and 2005, with Cruzeiro and Sao Paulo respectively.

He has also won the FIFA Club World Club Cup, also in 2005 with Sao Paulo, as well as one Brazilian league championship, with Rio club Botafogo in 1995. Endit
