Xinhua, March 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Thousands of people on Monday protested extreme far-right party Kotleba (People's Party Our Slovakia) winning 8.04 percent of the vote in Saturday's general election and entering parliament.

Protests were held the capital Bratislava and Banska Bystrica in central Slovakia and organized by several anti-fascists organizations.

"We came to say no to fascism and xenophobia in our city, region and country. We do not agree that the party which has fascists among its members has become a legitimate part of parliament," said organizer Dorota Martincova.

According to the official results, the general election in Slovakia was won by the Smer-SD party with 28.28 percent of the vote. They were followed by Freedom and Solidarity at 12.1 percent, and Ordinary People-NOVA at 11.02 percent.
