Tokyo stocks retreat in morning as investors take profits after market's gains

Tokyo stocks retreated further on Monday morning as the market's recent winning steak spurred investors to sell and lock in profits.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 75.02 points, or 0.44 percent, from Friday to 16,939.76.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 11.26 points, or 0.82 percent, to 1,364.09.

Notable decliners by the morning break comprised insurance, electric power and gas, and miscellaneous product-linked shares. Enditem
