Palestinians urge Israelis return 10 corpses for burial

Xinhua, March 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

A senior Palestinian official on Friday urged the international community to press on Israel to give back ten corpses of Palestinians killed by Israel over the past four months.

Saeb Erekat, Secretary General of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), said in an emailed press statement that "Israel imposes collective punishment not only on Palestinian alive, but also on dead people."

His remarks were made in a series of separate meetings held with UN special peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov, a parliamentary delegation from Belgium and diplomats from Switzerland, Cyprus and Japan.

A wave of violent tension has been going on since early October with the Palestinians in protest to Israel's policies in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem.

The health ministry said that Israel killed 186 Palestinians since the beginning of tension, while Erekat said that Israel still held the corpses of ten Palestinians and refused to hand them back to the Palestinian side. Endite
