Complete electricity, internet blackout across Syrian cities

Xinhua, March 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Syria suffered a power blackout throughout the country, coupled with an Internet connection outage in most areas Thursday, state news agency SANA reported.

Citing a source at the ministry of electricity, SANA said the electricity blackout is "surprising," adding that the maintenance team has begun efforts to determine the cause behind the blackout.

The ministry added that electricity will return within the coming few hours.

Syrians have become accustomed to frequent power outages as a result of the ongoing conflict.

Also, a Ministry of Telecommunication source was cited by SANA as saying that Internet connection in Syria is sporadic due to a malfunction connected with the electricity outage. Endit
