Singapore stocks close 2.22 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 60.66 points, or 2.22 percent, to close at 2,787.62.

A total of 2.05 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.84 billion Singapore dollars (1.32 billion U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 258 to 162, while 501 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 44.57 points, or 1.66 percent, to close at 2,726.96 on Wednesday. Endit
