Clinton, Cruz win Texas presidential primary election

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday won Texas' Democratic presidential primary while senator Ted Cruz won the Lone Star State's Republican primary.

Clinton got a big boost from minorities in a resounding victory in the delegate-rich state, where nearly half of Democratic voters believe the next president should generally continue the policies of U.S. President Barack Obama.

Cruz had a home-state victory that gave him Super Tuesday's most delegate-rich prize.

Texas, the second largest state in the United States, has 155 GOP delegates, 47 of which are awarded based on overall results statewide. The rest are distributed among each of the 36 congressional districts.

On Tuesday, Democrats voted in 11 states and American Samoa, with 865 delegates up for grabs. Republicans voted in 11 states, with 595 delegates at stake. Endi
