1 killed, 10 wounded in clashes with Israeli police in West Bank

A Palestinian student was killed and 10 others wounded during clashes with Israeli Border Police soldiers in a West Bank refugee camp overnight, officials and local media said Tuesday.

A military spokeswoman said the clashes erupted after a jeep of two Border Police soldiers entered the camp, north of Jerusalem, and came under heavy rocks and firebombs attack. According to Israeli media, the two have accidently drove their vehicle into the camp after they lost their way.

Large Israeli forces arrived at the camp to rescue the soldiers and opened fire toward the rioters, the spokeswoman said, adding that five Israeli soldiers were injured in the violence.

Eyad Omar Sajadiyeh, a 22-year-old Palestinian student was shot dead, according to the Red Crescent.

The incident was the latest in the five-month violent Palestinian conflicts. At least 170 Palestinians and 28 Israelis have been killed since last October. Endit
