Political advisors asked to better perform consultation function

Xinhua, March 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Senior Chinese official Yu Zhengsheng on Monday asked political advisors to better play their roles in conducting consultation and raising quality proposals during the upcoming annual session of the top political advisory body.

Yu made the remarks at the end of a senior political advisors' meeting, which adopted the agenda and schedule for the annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, which will open on Thursday.

The meeting also approved the standing committee's work report to be deliberated at the annual session and a report on proposals made since last year's session.

Yu, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, urged political advisors to offer advice and suggestions for the implementation of major reform measures, policies and targets set for the next five years, carrying out democratic supervision and feeling free to express their opinions.

Several appointments and dismissals of officials were also announced at the meeting.

The CPPCC is a mechanism of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

It consists of elite figures from Chinese society who are willing to serve the think tank for the government, legislative and judicial organs. Endi
