Albania's trade deficit in January records annual growth of 5 pct

In January 2016, the value of exports of Albania was 16 billion Albanian lek (126 million U.S. dollars), decreasing by 7.8 percent compared with January 2014 and 8.1 percent compared with December 2015, Albanian Statistics Institute reported on Monday.
The value of imports in January 2016 was 35 billion lek, decreasing by 1.5 percent compared with January 2015 and 34.6 percent compared with December 2015. This month the trade deficit is 18 billion lek, up 5.0 percent compared with January 2015 and down 48.0 percent compared with December 2015.
In January 2016, countries with which Albania has had the highest increase of exports, compared to January 2015 are Italy with 8.1 percent, Greece with 17.9 percent and Hungary with 353.4 percent.
In January 2016, countries with which Albania has had the highest increase of imports, compared to January 2015 are Italy with 18.3 percent, Germany with 3.1 percent and Poland with 34.8 percent. Meanwhile, countries with which it has had a decrease of imports are China with 4.2 percent, Turkey with 5.6 percent and Greece with 3.8 percent.
Trade with the European Union (EU) countries is 67.4 percent of total trade. In January 2016, exports to EU countries accounted for 86.2 percent of total export and imports from EU countries accounted for 58.6 percent of total import. Endit
