Xinhua, February 27, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three people died while 62 others were rescued when a motorbanca capsized off northern Philippine province of Quezon, the Philippine Coast Guard said Saturday.

M/V Lady Aimme sank off one nautical mile from the shoreline of Gumaca town while enroute to Quezon town at 3:45 p.m. local time on Friday.

The Coast Guard immediately dispatched search and rescue team that retrieved three female elderly bodies.

The 62 survivors composed of passengers and crew were immediately brought to Gumaca Hospital for necessary medication.

The Coast Guard said it was still verifying reports that the cause of the incident was due to big waves, which hit the motorbanca. Endit
