Indonesia suspends airliner's flight license after approval falsity

Xinhua, February 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indonesian transport ministry has temporarily revoked a license owned by Airfast Indonesia airliner to fly at one of its routes following a flight approval falsity, a move aims at boosting safety in the country's aviation industry, spokesman of the ministry said here on Friday.

The violation has been reported to the police and a falsification would be carried out soon, spokesman of Transport Ministry Julius Arivada Barata said.

"We have suspended the flight route since we knew the violation. This is for the flight security and safety," Barata told Xinhua via phone.

The falsity was conducted on one of the airliner's routes in eastern parts of Indonesia about two weeks ago, he added.

"Those who were committed to the violation will be brought to judiciary," Barata stressed.

Director for Crime of National Police Brigadier General Agus Andrianto said the police would conduct investigation on the falsity including the involvement of the management of the airliner.

"We will carry out a forensic test. Now we are collecting the documents from the transport ministry. We will also probe into the possibility of the implication of the management in the case," he said at the national police headquarters on Friday.

A flight approval falsity was in part contributed to the major AirAsia's crash in the country's waters in December 2014 that killed all 162 people on board.

Indonesia has struggled to boost flight safety since the accident. Enditem
