10 militants killed in E. Afghan province

Clean-up operations against Taliban fighters in parts of the eastern Ghazni province have claimed the lives of 10 armed insurgents, police spokesman in the province, Fahim Amiri said Friday.

"The operation was launched in Qarabagh and Aband districts Thursday night and so far 10 militants including two local commanders Mullah Khanjari and Mullah Alafta have been killed," Amiri told Xinhua.

There were no casualties on security forces, the official asserted.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Ghazni province have yet to make comment. Enditem
