Guangzhou draw Pohang 0-0 in AFC Champions league

Defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande were held to a goalless draw by Pohang Steelers here on Wednesday, failing to make a winning start for the first time in five years.

Guangzhou nearly took the lead in the 25th minute, only to see Brazilian striker Ricardo Goulart stabbed wide in the penalty area after Zheng Long' s free-kick.

Newly imported 42-million-euro Jackson Martinez missed the final chance in the injury time, the Colombian' s effort was denied by Pohang' s keeper Shin Hwayong.
