Lancang-Mekong Cooperation senior officials to meet in south China

Senior officials from the Lancang-Mekong cooperation (LMC) framework will meet on Wednesday in Sanya, Hainan Province,to prepare for the leaders' meeting next month.

The LMC, involving China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, was officially launched last November in Yunnan Province.

"China will promote coordination and cooperation with countries along the Mekong River to prepare for the first leaders's meeting in March," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular news briefing.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin and a senior diplomat from Thailand will co-chair the meeting. Endi
