State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic has been proposed to the parliament by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic for the post of the new defense minister, the government stated in a press release on Saturday.
Former defense minister Bratislav Gasic was released from duty on Feb. 5 after the parliament voted in favor of his removal from office due to sexist comments.
"The new defense minister will perform this function temporarily until the formation of the new government after the upcoming snap parliamentary elections," reads the press release of the government, which was scheduled for April 24.
The press release of the government states that Djordjevic, born in 1970, has a master's degree in international banking and economy and has graduated in Advanced Security and Defense Studies at the National Defense School in Belgrade within the Military Academy.
Currently he acts as the chairman of the government's political council for gender equality as well as the national director for armaments.
Djordjevic will take an oath of office and step to his new duty after parliament votes on Vucic's proposal at the parliament session which starts on Monday. Endit
