Ethiopia to host int'l coffee conference

Xinhua, February 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ethiopia is set to host the 4th International Coffee Conference from March 6 to 8 in Addis Ababa, capital of the East African country.

Ethiopia won the opportunity to host the prestigious event, which is held every 5 years, after competing with other nations, according to the organizers.

The conference, which will be held under the theme "Nurturing Coffee and Diversity", is expected to see close to 1,500 participants, such as local and international coffee producers, buyers, decision makers, and international agencies.

During the three-day conference, there will be site visits, side panels, and exhibitions, providing platform for Ethiopia to promote coffe.

Expected outcomes of the conference include linkage and discussion between coffee producers, exporters, buyers, researchers and suppliers; strengthening the relationship Ethiopia has with the International Coffee Organization; and growing market opportunities for Ethiopian coffee.

A secretariat under the auspices of the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has been established.

And a website for the conference has also been launched to facilitate and expedite information access and registration.

Previous conferences held in England in 2001, Brazil in 2005, and Guatemala in 2010. Endit
