Brazilian league champions Corinthians open their Copa Libertadores account in Chile for the first time this evening.
The Paulista club, under the stewardship of Tite, head to the Atacama Desert to take on Cobresal. It is the club's 13th time competing in South America's premier club competition.
Of their previous 12 opening matches, Corinthians' record reads five wins, five draws and two defeats, with the club not having lost an opening match in the tournament since 2000, when they went down 2-0 to America of Mexico.
Last year, they thrashed Colombia club Once Caldas 4-0 on the opening day, but were knocked out in the round of 16 by Guarani of Paraguay.
Corinthians lifted the Copa Libertadores in 2012 after defeating Argentine giants Boca Juniors in the final 3-1 on aggregate.
Then, like now, Tite was at the helm of the ship and, despite losing key playing staff during the Brazilian off-season, remain one of the favourites for the continental crown. Enditem
