Spanish treasury places 5.72 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills valued at 5.720 billion euros (about 6.4 billion U.S. dollars) on the market, registering a demand of almost 11 billion euros.
A total of 3.915 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of 0.0 percent, compared to the -0.060 percent of the previous issue held in January.
The placement also included 1.801 billion euros worth of six-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of -0.061 percent, compared to the previous -0.150 percent.
The treasury will hold another auction on Thursday when it aims to place between 3 billion and 4 billion euros on the market. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endit
