The "BVB" have signed Mikel Merino from Spanish second division outfit CA Osasuna for the next season, the German Bundesliga runner-up announced on Monday.

The eight-time German champions reinforced their midfield with Merino, who will join Dortmund in July 2016 after putting pen to paper on a contract until June 2021.

"He is a great Spanish talent. We are very pleased that we were able to realize the transfer for the upcoming season," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said.

The 19-year-old Osasuna home grown talent made his debut for the senior team in August 2014 to score twice in 51 appearances ever since.

"Dortmund is one of the top clubs in Europe. I am honored that I soon can play for the BVB, who stands for a very special style of play, in an impressive stadium, in front of one of the greatest sceneries in Europe and awesome supporters," the new arrival said.

Merino lifted the 2015 UEFA European Championship with Spain's Under-19 national team after beating titleholders Germany 3-0 in Larissa, Greece.

Borussia Dortmund, who sit currently on the 2nd place of the standings, visit Bayer Leverkusen at the 22nd round of Bundesliga on Sunday. Enditem
