At least 17 people were killed and 19 others injured in two separate road accidents Saturday in India's eastern state of Bihar, officials said.

The first accident took place in Rohtas district, 237 km southwest of Patna city, capital of Bihar.

Officials said 11 people were killed when a truck rammed into a tractor carrying people in its trolley.

In another accident, six people were killed and three others injured when a jeep they were travelling was hit by a truck from behind in Gaya district, 101 km south of Patna.

Police suspect rash driving as reason in both accidents.
