Two buildings collapse in Istanbul, people believed trapped

Two five-story buildings in Istanbul's busiest Taksim district collapsed on Friday with no casulties reported.

Several people were beleived to be trapped, the Hurriyet daily said, though the buildings were reported to be empty, with only several shops and cafe houses being operational at the ground floor.

Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin announced no casulties, citing preliminary report. Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.

The collapsed buildings were located in Istiklal avenue, a main touristic neighborhood in Istanbul. Endit
