Trucks abound at Chicago Auto Show

Xinhua, February 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Pickup trucks are eye-catching at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show thanks to falling oil prices and improvement in energy efficiency in this category.

In 2015, 2,544,589 trucks were sold in the United States, an increase of 9.7 percent over the previous year, according to the Automotive News Data Center.

The primary feature is that the pickup carries things, said Stu Pierce, a marketing manager at GMC. With a bed in the back, the pickup can carry all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles and watercraft.

"Americans have active lifestyles, so what you can do with a truck is you can use it as your daily driver to go back and forth to work; you can use it as your family car when you want to take the kids out.

"You can take your wife out to a nice dinner if you're dressed up for a nice evening out, because this vehicle has all the luxury features that you'd want in a luxury car," he told Xinhua.

GM, Ford and Chrysler -- the top three automakers in the United States -- all put on show a range of pickup trucks in Chicago. Endi
