Palestinian boy shot dead by Israeli soldiers near Hebron: medics

Xinhua, February 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead Wednesday by Israeli troops' gunfire during clashes with Israeli soldiers north of Hebron in the West Bank, medics said.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in an emailed press statement that Omer Madi, 15, from al-Aroub refugee camp was shot and killed by Israeli troops' gunfire in he camp.

Eyewitnesses said that Madi was critically wounded by an Israeli gunfire, but died shortly after he was brought to al-Mizan Hospital in the city of Hebron in southern West Bank.

The witnesses said that early on Wednesday, clashes broke out between dozens of Palestinian stone throwers and Israeli soldiers outside the refugee camp, after an Israeli army force tried to storm the camp for arrests.

The health ministry statement said that several Palestinians were injured by rubber bullets and tear gas, during the clashes. There has been no immediate Israeli army comment to the incident.

Tension of violence between Israel and the Palestinians has been going on since early October in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza, which had so far left 171 Palestinians and 30 Israelis killed. Endit
