Danish wind turbine maker receives record-high orders in 2015

Xinhua, February 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas on Tuesday posted strong revenue earnings for 2015 with a record high growth in order intake.

In 2015, Vestas' overall revenue amounted to 8.4 billion euros (around 9.4 billion U.S. dollars), with a 22-percent annual increase, according to the company's annual financial report released on Tuesday.

Its wind turbine order intake reached 8,943 megawatts in 2015, beating the previous record of 8,673 megawatts set in 2010.

Vestas produced and shipped 3,330 wind turbines last year with an total capacity of 7,948 megawatts, 30 percent higher than that of 2014.

It made a net profit of 685 million euros (around 768 million dollars) in 2015, up 75 percent from the 2014 performance.

The results were driven by "the stable execution of strong order books for wind turbines and service, both of which continued to grow during the year as a result of solid execution and a favorable market environment," Vestas said.

The Danish wind turbine manufacturer also predicted a minimum of 9 billion euros (around 10 billion dollars) of revenues in 2016. Endi
