Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would be visiting Qatar on February 10-11 for talks on regional and bilateral matters, focusing on energy cooperation, officials said Tuesday.
The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, had invited Sharif to visit the state.
The Pakistani prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation. During the visit, he will have meetings with the Emir and his counterpart, besides calls on him by important cabinet ministers of Qatar. The two sides would also hold wide-ranging delegation level talks, the Foreign Ministry said.
A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the field of health, radio and television, education and research and a Long-term Sale/Purchase Agreement (SPA) of LNG would be concluded by both sides, a statement said.
"The main focus of the Prime Minister's visit and interaction with the Qatari leadership will be on further enhancement of bilateral relations in various fields, including energy cooperation, trade and investment, defence and increase in employment opportunities for the Pakistani workforce in Qatar."
Both leaders would also exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, the Foreign Ministry said.
Both countries have high level exchanges for regular consultations on key issues.
The Emir of the State of Qatar paid a landmark visit to Pakistan on March 23-24, 2015.
"This return visit by the Prime Minister in a period of less than one year is a testimony of growing relations between the two brotherly countries," the Foreign Ministry said, adding both sides share perception on various regional and international issues. Enditem
