The annual Stockholm Design Week, showcasing cutting-edge Scandinavian design, kicked off Monday.

The event is held concurrently with Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair, which is held outside the city center. There are also events across the Swedish capital throughout the week, including receptions and open houses at a variety of showrooms, design schools, restaurants and studios.

"The week is a feast for everyone who loves design, as many exhibits are open to the public. As the initiator of Stockholm Design Week, we are happy it is growing and developing," said Cecilia Nyberg, project manager of the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair and Stockholm Design Week.

Exhibitions to be held in conjunction with the Stockholm Design Week include one about the award-winning Note Design Studio and another titled Nomadic Design Practices, which is a collaboration between the Swedish design studio Glimpt and Roma craft workers from Romania.

The first Stockholm Design Week was in 2002. This year, it takes place between February 8 and 14. Endit
