Somalia's Daallo flight hit by bomb: minister

Xinhua, February 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Somali government confirmed Saturday there was a bomb in the Daallo airline plane which was forced to make an emergency landing in Mogadishu Tuesday.

"We have established there was a bomb in the Daallo airline flight which was meant to kill all passengers in the plane," said Transport and Aviation Minister Ali Ahmed Jama at a press conference in Mogadishu.

The plane, which was headed for neighboring Djibouti, turned back to Mogadishu's Aden Ade Airport after it caught fire a few minutes after taking off, injuring two people.

The plane was later found to have had a gaping hole on one side near the window.

There were reports earlier that one of the passengers was sucked out of the plane and his body found in a village approximately 30 kilometers outside Mogadishu.

The minister did not, however, give details of about the reports. Endit
